X41 Tablet - Dual Channel Capable?

#1 Post by dinotopia » Sun Jul 17, 2005 10:55 pm

I am wondering if it's possible for the X41 Tablet to run in dual channel mode. Moreover, if it can, how much of a difference in perfomance is it likely to make?

I'm asking because I'm having a little trouble deciding between 2 configurations:

Configuration 1:

18662CU $2249 CDN

P-M 1.5/256/40/4 cell

Configuration 2:

18665GU $2519 CDN

P-M 1.5/512/40/8 cell

Now, I can add an 8-cell to the first configuration for $180. I plan on adding a 1GB RAM module (for $159 CDN) if I buy the first configuration, for a 256+1024 RAM configuration.

With the second configuration, I could add a 512 RAM module for $99, and potentially get dual-channel.

That being said, should I go with the second configuration (plus extra 512 RAM) or the first configuration (plus 8-cell battery and 1GB RAM), given that the second configuration could get potentially better performance from dual-channel? The second configuration is also slightly more expensive; would the extra performance be worth it?

Thanks.

There's a thread on this at:

Personally, I'm gonna go with a 1.5GB configuration on the 18666TU via the 512MB soldered-on and a 1GB crucial module.
