Keyboard with juice

I spilled some juice on the keyboard the other day. I immediately shut the laptop down (it shut down ok), pulled the plug out and removed the battery, turned it around so the liquid could run out... (I learned this from reading this forum and I reacted surprisingly qiuckly, I guess I knew this would happen some day...)

Then I took it apart, removed the keyboard and palmrest. There was a few drops on top of pcmcia slot and a few on the inside of the palmrest. Nothing else looked wet or anything. Nothing on the motherboard. I let it dry for two whole days. Now I reassembled it. But I'm scared to switch it on!

I know this is very weak.. But do you guys (with some experience of keyboard spilling

) think the laptop should be ok by now or should I leave it dry a bit more?

Other than that, it was quite interesting to take it apart and see all that tidiness and space efficiency. Amazing!

Afraid of liquids? I'd personally tell you to use a hair dryer and spray your TP a littile with it (Not cooking anything, making sure its dry)

It should run fine after that

It's working it's working!!! Everything's normal.

I'll never have another drink around it again! So relieved...

Until I design a special black Thinkpad USB powered/weather telling/temperature measuring/self-refilling drinking cup with a lid and a red straw, I think you should put it on the list, GomJabbar.
And make the list into a mantra.

make sure there is no stain inside,

if you need warrenty claim in future IBM/lenovo will send you a bill if they find even a very small stain. (even though that's not becuse of spill).

Once they find evidence of spill everything that goes wrong with laptop is caused by spill damage. so be careful and remove any liquid stains.

For a couple of weeks open your laptop once a week and check it inside. Search for any kind of oxidation mainly near bonds. If you find any kind of oxidation remove it with rubber. If it won't go down then very little souse rubber into distilled water.

The liquid was mainly on the outside of the pcmcia slot and on the inside of the palmrest. I cleaned it with computer wipes when it was still fresh. But I'll check again, thanks you guys!

During your next little checkup, use alchohol, Q-Tips, and a can of compressed air. In my expierence that has been the best way to clean electronics.

I don't think alcohol is a good choice. It should make more bad than good. I would left it as a very last possibility.
