Help! Is My T20 Screen Dying?
Help! Is My T20 Screen Dying?
Hi everyone...can anyone tell me if I'm in trouble here or not?
Over the past week, I've noticed some parts of my screen sort of shimmering...where it looks like the individual pixels are changing colour and "running" down the screen.
These changing pixels are not limited to any particular area but they are evident in areas where the colour is very different..either dark or light...such as in tabs. They also occur most often after I flip the screen up in order to get some work done. After a while, they disappear and everything seems normal.
I thought that it was overheating (due to the heat) but that does not seem to be a problem in an airconditioned room.
The machine is a T20 2647 model running Windows XP with 128 megs of memory...yes, am looking to buy more asap.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You wold think it would be the LCD although I saw something like this recently and the cause was the system board.IronMac wrote:Hi everyone...can anyone tell me if I'm in trouble here or not?

On the T20 I saw, anything that was dark, such as dark blue had pixels floating around on it.
I would keep using it for now & keep an eye on it.
Thanks,

My instant thought was 'system board' not LCD when I read the symptoms. Specifically it's probably the onboard graphics card. I had to send a T21 with similar problems back to the seller who replaced it no problem.
Actually, there is a real glut of T2* system boards on Ebay at the moment for ~$50 so I wouldn't worry too much!
