how much faster is the t42p over the t42?

#1 Post by jjlists123 » Fri Jul 22, 2005 2:08 am

I'm looking at a T42 with 9600 gpu. Mostly for software dev work.

The 'p' model is significantly more expensive. Other than the ability to run CAD software, is there any advantage to the 'p' model for development work?

I guess what I'm asking is, if the 'p' model is noticably faster in day to day operation.

afaik all the p models have 7200rpm drives (that's one thing you'll definitely 'feel') and uxga screens, too...

Yes, but isn't it cheaper to upgrade the hard drive and add memory yourself?
If you don't need OpenGL, I don't understand why people buy the expensive 'p' model?
What am I missing?

They buy it for the 1600x1200. At least, that’s why I did. You can’t get the 15" UXGA screen in a standard T4x.
