If you order a Thinkpad and add on security software (Norton Internet Security 2005 @ $69.99), I'm assuming that you get the actual CD, right?
But also -- does the notebook come with the software pre-installed, or do you have to install it. If you have to install yourself, why not just buy elsewhere?
I looked at the Tabook page for the T42 I'm considering and I see that it comes with Norton Antivirus with 90 days updates. If I have to install Norton Internet Security 2005 with Antivirus already installed, isn't that a big inconvenience, uninstalling what's there before loading the new software?
Thanks for response from those who know how this works with Thinkpads.
Security Software with Thinkpad Purchase
Re: Security Software with Thinkpad Purchase
Having a 90-day subscription to Norton AV is not having much, but at least you can go online as soon as you get your laptop, with less risk of getting a virus right off the bat. I've heard of people that have been infected the same day they got their new PC.chrisnyc wrote:If I have to install Norton Internet Security 2005 with Antivirus already installed, isn't that a big inconvenience, uninstalling what's there before loading the new software?
It's no big deal to uninstall Norton AV. Just go to: Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs, then pick Norton AV out of the list and remove it.
