How much ram for x41 tablet?

#1 Post by Stunt101 » Sat Jul 23, 2005 12:03 pm

hey guys,

im probably going to get an ibm x41 tablet, but i dont know how much ram to buy for it. there are two weakspots performance-wise, so im trying to compensate for them by boosting up the ram:

-graphics. the computer doesnt have a graphics card, so it eats up some of the ram. i dont intend to game/ use graphic-intensive programs, but i would like to watch movies and look at digital photos without too much lag.

-hard drive. the hard drive runs at a paltry 4200 rpm, and there is no way to ugrade it.

therefore, given this information, would 1.5 gigs of ram offer much more performance than 1 gig of ram (ddr2 sdram)? is it worth the additional 100 bucks?

thanks

How much multitasking do you do?

If you don't do much, I'd stick with 1GB. If you're feeling really cheap, 512MB or 768MB will do nicely as well.
Current: 365XD (120 MHz, 72 MiB, 6.4 GB, 4x CD-ROM, 10.4" TFT)
Past: T61p 15.0" QXGA, T60p 15.0" QXGA, X61 Tablet SXGA+, R51e 14.1" XGA, X21
