Easiest way to replace a hard disk?

Hi All,

I have a Thinkpad R40 with 20GB hard drive, which, after formatting is close to 15.6GB and after I've installed and upgraded standard applications is down to 7 GB+.

So... I'm thinking of updating to a bigger hard-drive but copying everything manually will be a bit painful.

Is there a simple way of copying info from one drive to the other?

You can always try a backup software like Acronis True Image or Norton Ghost.

I was browsing online and it seems that EZ GIG Transfer kit might do the job, but I have not read any user opinions on it, though I did come accross Northon Ghost

Anyone used the data transfer kit?

Does Northon Ghost work on hardrives that are 10GB+ full? If so, do I need a DVD+/- R?

Norton Ghost will work on 10GB+ - just buy the latest version of ghost. My version works without a boot disk or CDROM. I just pop in my second hard drive in an ultrabay and copy away. When I'm done. Just swap the drives. Up and running in about 3-4 hours.
