A complete list of T40 batteries and specs
I'm trying to collect all the detailed information on the five IBM batteries currently available for the T4x. It's surprisingly difficult to get actual capacity specs on these. Here's what I have so far. Anyone have any additions/corrections? Specifically, I'm puzzled by the last two batteries, which are older part numbers but apparently still offered in addition to the 6- and 9- cell packs. Anyone know the difference?
Re: A complete list of T40 batteries and specs
Those are probably the older T40-T42 batteries with capacities of 4.4 Amp/Hr and 6.6 Amp/Hr, respectively.Ground Loop wrote:Specifically, I'm puzzled by the last two batteries, which are older part numbers but apparently still offered in addition to the 6- and 9- cell packs. I too am interested in what the "high capacity" battery means:

What's the difference between a "high capacity" battery and a "standard" 9-cell battery...if any?

generally ibms have 6 cell batterys
the 9 cell batterys have more capacity
i will make an exact comparision betwween the t4x older type
and so called newer t4x higher capacity versions(have both)
and post the findings not by what ibm label them but by whats read from the eeprom.i have seen higher capacity labeled 6 cell batterys that are actually lower than adverstised specs according to the eeprom,i strongly reccomend mobile meter for 2k xp users
to get fair dinkum information about the battery cells
and current state of eeprom % managment.
rippoff companys will show more % wear than what the batterys
really are capable of.in the t4x,600 thinkpads one can slow discharge screen +hdd off left in windows and see incremental gains to losses over repeated cycles.amazing what you find out
,conversely the 9 cells
units have xtra 3 cells, they will definetaly last longer.

I have a T41p 9 cell battery.
According to Vista TP Power Manager
Sanyo
FRU IBM-08K8198
Design Capacity: 71.28 Wh
Design Voltage: 10.80 V
Made in 2004
I will have to dig out some of the 6 cell ones later on.
