client security dll problem

#1 Post by someguy4 » Wed Jul 27, 2005 6:39 pm

I have an x31, which had the client security software installed. Recently, I discovered that IBM had posted a newer version of CSS on their website, so I went ahead and downloaded it and ran the program. It asked if I wanted to upgrade my current version, so of course I said yes...then I restarted the computer and it says:

"User Interface Failure

The Logon User Interface DLL UVM_Gina.dll failed to load. Contact your system administrator to replace the DLL, or restore the original DLL."

There's a button to restart the system and that's it. I can't start up windows. I tried going into safe mode but apparently I wrote down the wrong password or something else is wrong, because I can't access Windows from safe mode either.

I've called Tech support and the guy instructed me to clear the security chip, which I've done, but it didn't help. Thankfully, there's Auditor (based on Knoppix) so I can at least access my hard drive to move out all my files.

So does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this? Or have a dll they can send to me? The tech support basically said I have to restore the computer to its factory contents.

Thanks!
