removing 'access ibm' icon from XP start menu root

#1 Post by erik » Fri Jun 25, 2004 1:37 am

i would like to know how to remove the 'access ibm' icon from the start menu root in windows XP.   i never use this feature and could use the extra room in the menu.

any help is appreciated.

edit:   i am referring to the root of the start menu, not the programs folder. ;)

Delete (or move) file C:\Documents and Settings\*user*\Start Menu\Access IBM.lnk where *user* is the user that you're logged in as. Also look in directories "All Users" and "Default User."

That doesn't get rid of the program. To do that you can use the standard Add/Remove Programs.

no, simply deleting it from the programs menu doesn't fix what i need to fix.

there are about five instances of "aibm.exe" in the registry.   i need to know which key controls the icon added to the root start menu.
