Shouldn't that be 100GB not 80?

A google search of that part number reveals is the 5400rpm (5K100) SATA model. So, at that price, they probably misprinted the speed, although its possible they misprinted the part number.

According to the purchase confirmation I received it's part number 589127, 80GB 7200RPM.

We'll see tomorrow when they get here.

Yes, but that is PC Mall's part number, not the manufacturers. So of course their number is still linking back to what is probably their wrong description. If they got the manufactures number right, then it a 5400 SATA drive, but of course this maybe the number that's wrong. We shall wait and see!

It's the same number as listed in then onsale.com URL posted above.

However, the IBM/Hitachi part number that's listed (0A26924) says it's a 5K80.

Ah well, I paid with my AMEX card so the absolute worst thing that can happen is that pcmall refuses to take them back and I'll wind up with two free 5K80s.

We'll see what arrives.

PC Mall and Onsale.com appear to be the same company. The physical address at the bottom of each site is the same, only the phone numbers are different.

I believe its not correct. AFAIK there is no 80GB 7200RPM drive, the 7200 drives only come in 60GB and the newly release 100GB.

There definitely is a 80GB 7200rpm HD. Dell had it as an option with their Inspiron notebooks as well as the 7200rpm 100gb HD.

Sounds like a normal day for me!

FWIW, I've received no further information from PCMALL as to shipping, such as a tracking number or a generic "your order has shipped" email.

We'll see if the drives arrive today, but I don't expect to see anything.

Doesn't apply to toll-free numbers, e.g. area code 800, 888, 877, etc.

555-1212 is the universal number for directory assistance. Preface it with an area code for more specific info, such as 212 555-1212 for NYC only. 800 555-1212 gets you toll-free numbers directory assistance.

The box was just delivered and it contained.......

Two 5K80s!

Needless to say, I've just emailed PCMALL asking for an RMA, I'll keep you all advised as to how this develops.

They issued me an RMA and gave me their FEDEX account number to return the drives.

I'll let you know what happens with the refund.
