T30, harddrive doesn't turn off - just makes racket

#1 Post by Ogg » Thu Jul 28, 2005 3:04 pm

The Power Settings for this particular T30 are "screen off after 15 minutes" (that works fine), and "turn off hdd after 30 minutes". When the hdd is supposed to be turning off, it just seems to make a racket as if it is extremely busy accessing something.

What is the problem? Is there another setting that I should check?

Maybe it is accessing something. Check your recent files with Windows Search and see if something becomes obvious. Norton Internet Security will busy some files. ... JD Hurst

Mystery solved. I decided to WAIT and see just how long the non-sense would carry on. The hdd access stopped on its own after about 10 more minutes. I guess this "problem" had something to do with XP doing something?
