A31p Vs G41/T Series
A31p Vs G41/T Series
Hello, after seeing that NASA still uses A31p on their shuttle missions, it really got me interested in the those laptops.
How does an A31p compare to the newer G41 and T series, like the T42? The price on a used A31p seems to be close to a new G41 or T-Series laptop, is the A31 still superior, or would I be better off just going with a G41? Any help is greatly appreciated

I'm just looking for some advice on getting a thinkpad. I want something as good as the a31p, but it looks like IBM no longer makes A series laptops. I know the G series is considered a replacement for the A however I can't find a P series G. What I'm looking for is a desktop replacement laptop like the former A Series.
Thanks for any help or guidance.

Hey, after trying to find an IBM support site when You're on the ISS and Your T43 has some teething problems because some driver isn't ready for prime time just yet, you'll gladly spend those extra gallons of fuel to propel your good ol' A31p into orbit.ajtobia wrote:after seeing that NASA still uses A31p on their shuttle missions ...
I mean, IBM support may be good, but they're not *that* good.
cheers,

Get them while you can
They are great workhorses. Although I wouldn't get one because NASA still uses them. NASA still uses 286-12 mhz CPUs on the shuttle!
They are a dependable workhorse still able to handle 90% of what's out there. I play HL2 on my laptop with 100fps+ performance. Eats excel and outlook for breakfast and handles Linux, FreeBSD, and VMware with ease. Great part is it's a IBM so getting parts is easy and covered if you have a warranty.
Good luck!
