#1 Post by ssvapk » Sat Jul 30, 2005 1:31 pm

what is dual channel? if there are 2 512 MB ram, does it mean dual channel. what is the advantage of having dual channel?

just like the high way. if normally high way has 2 lines on switch sidem then "dual-high way" would have 4 lines on each side. greater amount of transalation each time (data). you wouldn't be notice the different of speed if you only use it for internet of movie.

Infact, it doesn't make a differance in laptops. Timings do...

Hi! few days ago I've recived my new ibm t43p 2668-g4g.

I've the original 512mb ddr2 4200 and an add module of 1gb ddr2 4200.

I Think that they don't work in dual channel.

Is better my solution (1,5 Gb not dual channel) or 2 x 512 mb in dual channel?????

Thanks!!!

Dual Channel only works on two identical memory sticks. Some advanced memory controllers (I think the Venice ones) might be able to deal with two different sticks with same size and same timings
