problems on thinkpad 600 e display

#1 Post by enrique » Fri Jun 25, 2004 11:44 am

My 600 E has a problem in the display, when you start it, the backlight of the display starts to flash and sometime it gets lite and sometimes not, it is a big problem so I can not use it. SOS

problems on thinkpad 600 e display

It could also be the backlight - a fluorescent stick that is an integral part of the display panel which is practically impossible to replace. Hence, the practical recourse would be a replacement display panel or the "upper part" of the 600 series Thinkpad that are available at eBay.

I had similar dim screen

And I bought a used inverter on ebay. I put it in and the screen is the same. Comes on for a few seconds and then gets so dim its useless. It does work with an external monitor.

ALthough it could be the inverter I bought is also faulty, I think it means something else is wrong. Do I need to replace the whole screen?

TIA,
Chuck

If the inverter is good, your LCD (or at least the backlight stick) may be bad. It's probably time for the "upper half" solution.

Hope this helps.
