Thinkpad Personalization Editor on an A20M

#1 Post by tim S » Sat Jul 30, 2005 6:03 pm

I always thought this software was a pretty good front line theft deterrent, and perhaps an honest person might actually return the laptop, should it ever be stolen.
My son is taking an A20M off to college and I thought installing the editor I used to have, for my old 760 then 770, would be a good idea. I installed the editor on the A20M without difficulty, but the floppy would not install the personalization data on re-boot. The latest IBM software I found and used, pertained mainly to the 600 and 770 series. Were they the last ThinkPad’s for which this software was written? If so, is there a similar program available, which will work on newer Thinkpads?
Thanks in advance.
Tim

Negative. The last Thinkpads compatible with Personalization Editor is the 380Z, 600X and 770Z series. None of newer systems beyond 500mhz is compatible. A real shame...

Thanks for the update. Yes it is a shame, that was a very useful piece of software.
I've now read some of the threads in the Windows OS part of this forum concerning this editor feature. But after some gallant attempts by some brave souls to modify the BIOS, it came to nothing.
