Such conservative, old school choices.... Doesn't anybody use one of those new sling style, monostrap bags.
Has anybody tried this HardPack They don't give the weight, but it pretty sweet to look at. Like having a motorcycle fender strapped to your back. Apple owners always get the most creative stuff made for them.

Has anyone come across the High Sierra Magnum backpack? Personally, I think it is the most stylish backpack I have ever seen. The price is reasonable too:

I am thinking of getting one for myself. I am just not sure how big the bag is. Has anyone got the bag? Please post a picture of the bag on your back. Many thanks

I just ordered the Thinkpad labelled one from the IBM EPP site for $52 shipped. Hopefully it'll come this week and I'll let you all know how it fits my new T43 15".

I guess the only and real question is. How secure do you feel about throwing your laptop in the bag and heading out the door with it.
I bought myself a samsonite bag from a local retail place for about 20bucks. Lined with Neoprene throughout the laptop space. and has multiple places for accessories. Remind me to post pics later.

T42 2378FVU -- PM 735 1.7Ghz, 768MB RAM, 40GB 5400rpm HDD, 14.1 SXGA+(1400x1050) TFT LCD, 64MB ATI Radeon 9600, 24x24x24x/8x CD-RW/DVD, Intel 802.11b/g, Modem(CDC), Gigabit Lan, 6 cell Li-Ion battery, WinXP Pro | UbuntuLinux (Dapper Drake)
i use a waterfield sleeve inside a small burton snowboarding backpack/daypack. love the waterfield sleeve - very high build quality, i'd recommend it to anyone ... anyways - i'm not going to get rid of my sfbags sleeve, but i will probably check the local REI to see if they carry that NorthFace backpack. Having a dedicated padded compartment means i can keep other things in the main compartment while i remove the laptop; something which is kind of a pain to do with a regular backpack/sleeve combo.
as for the person commenting on bag style - my personal opinion is that backpacks are ultimately more functional than the single strap/messenger style bag. if we're only talking about style value, i would agree that backpacks don't look as 'hip'. guess i'll just have to look like a geek .. oh well... =/

I have a Jansport backpack...from my high school days. I have no clue whether or not it'd fit my 15" T42 (comes today!!!), but at the same time, it doesn't have any lining to support a laptop.
Short story even shorter, $100 bucks for a backpack is a bit steep...so for those of you who posted <$100 bags, how are they putting up and is there room for books and etc, (I'm a college student)? Thanks for the help!

The IBM one is <$100 and made by targus from what I hear. It's supposedly very nice, but I'll let you know when I get mine. One thing's for sure though, you don't wanna spend all this money on a nice laptop only to skimp when it comes to protection. Plan to spend around $50 on a nice backpack to carry it in so that you don't have to pay $500 when you accidentally damage the LCD or something.STS06 wrote:I have a Jansport backpack...from my high school days. Haha..thats very true. Couldn't agree with you more. Thats mainly why I don't plan on carrying my laptop in my current jansport. I will await your review of the Targus bag. By the way, I was planning on getting a strapped laptop carry bag (which i think the targus is) but then realized that I didn't and don't want to carry my regular backpack AND a strapped arm-type bag for the laptop. Instead, I'd like to have it all integrated into one bag...a backpack that holds the laptop. I'll continue my search but await your review. Thanks.

That's the IBM pack, so you see it is made by targus.

backpack
No, it's not the same (at least for us who bought the laptops now). The one that comes with EPP is Targus Groove Backpack
Darn.
Now I'm always one to look for a good deal but I can't help but think that this isn't really a great backpack (the Targus Groove Backpack). Anyone try it out before? My comp is being shipped to me from my house but the backpack will remain there (no need for it yet)....so I won't know if its any good for another month. If by then no one has posted, I'll throw a review up regarding it. I have an inclination that its not that great. Ohs wells. Thanks for the clarrification!

Same here. I;m sure most college students are the same, but I typically don't carry too many books...only the ones I need on midterm/final days. So a bulky backpack is also something I don't need. 50 to 60 dollars sounds like a reasonable price to pay. Let me know if you come across anything and I will do the same.
What do people think of the Tumi or Victorinox bags?
The TUMI bag is really high quality but it seems like it would be too small for University.
The Victorinox bag is less flashy but it is bigger. The build quality is still very high (along with the price).
I'm going to bring my laptop to the store tomorrow to double check fits. If I got the Victorinox bag, I would have to find some sort of sleeve to keep the laptop protected.

I just got a Crumpler Beerback, and I love it! The whole thing is waterproof, and the sleeve for the laptop fits my t43p with a nine-cell like a glove. The backpack is very comfotable and stylish, there are many different colors to choose from. My second choice was a booq, but i just thought that they dont look good (they might go well with a pocket protector and thick black glasses
). I also dont think that the booq is totally waterproof--curmpler is really the only people ive seen that have a waterproof zipper, which is where water gets into other backpacks that have the 1000d+ material. The crumpler is expensive, but it seems like you problably dont want to screw around with a $3000 laptop.
T43p 2687EJU, 512+512 ram, 2ghz, 15 in UXGA, V3200, MultiBurn, ect.
Does anyone know about any girly looking bags that will be good for a t43 14"? I have been looking for a messenger type bag for my t43 (which has not arrived yet, it takes forever!!!) and would appreciate it if anyone had any suggestions. I would love to get a louis vuitton laptop bag but I can't find one on their site.
Thanks! =)
Thanks! =)

hi kam, i don't think lv has any laptop bag. their messenger bags are not designed for laptop. if you want, you can buy a sleeve for your laptop and put the sleeve in the lv bag,kamlee80 wrote:Does anyone know about any girly looking bags that will be good for a t43 14"?
