clock and date unstable

Hi,
My son has a t41 that is only a few months old. He let me know that the past few weeks he has had to reset the time and date a few times. Not a few minutes, but hours and days off. Any thoughts????

That happened to my old desk top a few years ago, I was told the battery on the motherboard needed to be replaced.

yea the battery on the motherboard is most likely the problem

So I do I replace that battery??? Or is that something that needs to be done by IBM??
This computer is only a few months old too???

Could be an old battery. What date was the T-41 built?

I'm sure someone on this forum can tell you how to change it!

franks T41p is only a few months old..
those cmos batteries last years..
though it COULD be the battery it is not likely..

I'm experiencing the same problem now as well. Has anyone ever experienced this same thing? if so, what did you do to fix your problem?

I have a T40 2373-92U.

measure the error..
make notes..
if it is out of spec you'll need a trip to ez serve..

however, computer clock chips are not great when it comes to accuracy..

and there are available utilities that will reset your clock..

Right now it says 6:52 Am when it should read 9:52 PM. I'll give IBM a call tomorrow.

Timezone possibly changing somehow on accident? Dunno, but Windows XP Pro SP2 should have an NTP client built into it. Just double click on the clock like normal and there should be a third tab labeled "Internet Time".
