From my very limited knowledge, the e is for use in blade servers where the unit will be on 24/7. I bought one by mistake and it performed on par with the 'normal' version.

One would think that the e version would be a bit hardier as it's designed to be run 24/7.

As far as I know, the difference between the E and the normal one is that the E consumes a little bit more power that the non-E. I believe it's about 2-3 times more in terms of watts per GB. Therefore it is recommended to the Non-E version in a a laptop where power conservation is a concern.

The e7K60 is for servers only. It is not suited to the constant starting and stopping of the disk and cannot operate at such high temperatures (like those found in a laptop). I would highly recommend you buy the 7K60 for your laptop.
