I'm getting my T43

#1 Post by user101 » Wed Aug 03, 2005 6:00 pm

I've been browsing this forum for a while and have found it very helpful in choosing a notebook. I'll be receiving my thinkpad (T43 2686DGU) in a few more days and was wondering if anyone could recommend a case. I'll be using this mostly for school so light and portable is preferable.

I got the education discount and got the base model for 1609. But with a 512 MB RAM, 3 year warranty 3 year TP protection plan, and an extra 9-cell battery it came out to $2100 (before tax).

It came!!! So far I like it a lot a except for one problem I've been having with the FPR. Sometimes when it prompts for a FPR scan after the OS boots it can be bypassed and loads the desktop by pressing CNTRL + ALT +DEL. Otherwise it acts normal and prompts me to enter a password instead. Any thoughts on how to fix this?

afaik there is no elegant way to fix this. Best practise is to asign a very long/complex password to your account (and obviously keep using the fp-login).

There is no way to disable the strg+alt+del login, but I would be glad if someone can proof the opposite ;)

That's not the problem. I don't mind the option of entering a password at all. The problem is that sometimes when I hit CNTRL ALT DEL it doesn't prompt me to enter a password at all and just logs in.

I use the kensington contour notebook backpack, reviewed at notebookreview.com. Its safe, and extremely comfortable. I also have a shaggymac lcd screen protector cloth thing that fits between keyboard and lcd. its cool.
