Backlight very slow to come on

#1 Post by Guest » Fri Jun 25, 2004 6:26 pm

The light for the LCD display used to come on immediatly when I turned my TP600 on. Now it can take several minutes to come on. Sometimes I wait 10 to 20 minutes and it doesn't come on and I end up rebooting. I know the LCD display is working because if I look really close, I can see it. The problem is the backlight itself is not coming on very quickly anymore. Where is the problem? TIA

The reason the backlight is slow to come on is because the inverter card (a long skinny card within the display "half") is dying. If you are handy with a screwdriver, and very careful, you can replace the inverter card. If not, you can get a new "upper half" on Ebay and that is much easier to replace. If you are a complete klutz with tools, get the computer to a qualified repairman, or plan on using it with an external monitor.

Hope this helps.

I guess I'm "handy with a screwdriver". :D I found a "buy it now" on ebay that was only $12.50 with the shipping! It came today and I installed it this afternoon. It works! Thanks for the help.
