Here is a link from China with some rough pics of a widescreen ThinkPad

http://chinese.engadget.com/2005/07/18/ ... en-laptop/

Forgive me if these have already been posted. I t also mentions an X700 video card.

Hopefully someone here can translate Chinese

Oh dear, that's the most uninspring design I've seen in a while. They're going to have to do better than just a pretty silver cover if they want a crack at the Sony/Apple widescreen market.

Then again, that's perhaps either a fake pic or a *very* preliminary model.

It's not bad, looks a lot like other ThinkPads except for the silver outer casing, and having a nice X700 video card. Anyone know what they'll price that baby? I'm so glad that IBM/Lenovo has a real competitor to the Inspiron 9300 in the works.

that "silver" color might just be the way that the light is reflected off the top cover..
which tends to indicate that the finish is not the usual thinkpad matte finish but rather a shiny finish..
either way it alarms me that lenovo seems to be departing from the old thinkpad design/style features..

<sigh>

we shall see what we shall see.. :)

If this is the real thing, then it seems like Lenovo won't be making a separate line for consumers (e.g. Dell Inspiron, etc). Then again, it could just be a prototype's picture. By the way, the Chinese words mainly just say how Lenovo is departing from IBM's old ways, how this series breaks tradition, etc.
