wep cracking with a t42p and ibm a/b/g card

#1 Post by leland » Fri Aug 05, 2005 5:48 pm

Hey all, my neighbor just cracked my wep key (my router doesn't do WPA...yet) and I want to crack his back.

I just can't find a program (to run on win xp) that I can use to scan the packets.

Can anyone help?

It is not good practice to get back at people. If you have evidence, you can and should call the police. Also, change your WEP key and turn off SSID broadcasting. You don't need sophisticated Linux gear to crack a WEP key, but you do need time (quite a bit of it). So making the router invisible will definitely help. Also consider turning it off at night or during other periods of long inactivity. ... JD Hurst

No, and this is not an appropriate question for this forum.

I inadvertently moved the following post from ryan out of sight. Since there's no way to reintegrate it into this thread, here is the full text of ryan's message:

Actually, thanks to some "second-gen" WEP cracking tools it only takes a few hours max now, and SSIDs can be easily sniffed.
