t43 warranty upgrade: tnkpd protection vs extended srv cntrt
hello. i have a question on the warranty upgrades that are available when one purchases a t43 online. i narrowed my search down to two models, one with a one year warranty (2686DJU) and one with a three year warranty (266875U ). no matter which model i end up buying, i want to get the three year thinkpad protection with the accidental damage protection. my question is, if i buy a 3 year thinkpad protection service plan, does that automatically mean that my warranty is upgraded to 3 years? do i need to buy an extended warranty AND an service contract in order to be eligible for 3 year accidental damage protection? i guess the underlying question is whether there is a difference between thinkpad protection and a regular extended contract if i buy a plan that is 3 years but the base warranty is only one. thanks in advance!
If the system you purchase has a one year warranty it has no direct effect on the coverage provided by the accidental damage warranty other than the fact that you'll have to prove accidental damage to the unit after the one year period has elapsed.
Rather than provide IBM/Lenovo with an excuse for not repairing your machine, purchase the 3 year EZServe extension for ~$117 at the time you purchase the machine and the point will be moot.
Regards,
James

When i purchased the t42 in my sig I just went a head and got both the 3 year TPP and Warranty upgrade for like ~260. Now it ends up being total 4 years warranty and 3 years of TPP. Not bad.
