T23 and 570E ac adapter compatible?

#1 Post by MichaelT » Mon Aug 08, 2005 4:45 pm

I have a T23 that has an adapter with an output rating of 16 v & 4.5Amps, 110 - 240 volts. My 570E is output rated at 16v, 3.5Amps, 110 -240 volts. I've seen adapters for sale for both but I think they are the 4.5 amp rated versions. That is, the 4.5 amp adapter can be used on the 570E but the 3.5 amp adapter can not be used on the T23.

Does anyone know if this is correct? Can I use the 570E adapter (the lower amp version) with a T23 machine? I'd like to avoid buying a second T23 adapter if possible (I use one for traveling, it saves disconnecting and reconnecting when I get back to the office).

Thanks,

MJT

Yes, you can. I do it all the time. Have several bricks across the house to plug in any notebook.

However, you should understand that the 4.5A are calculated to fully load an empty battery and have the T23 running at full CPU usage with the screen on max light.

If you have this condition, your ac brick might get very hot.
Actually, you can test your average power wattage by unplugging the T23, have the light at a useful setting and run your common software.
I always was around 20-25 Watts max. which is well below the 45 Watts of the small brick.
