Problem installing new HDD

#1 Post by syhead » Mon Aug 08, 2005 4:47 pm

I'm trying to replace the original HITACHI 40Gb for a ambumg 80Gb.

After installing the new HDD, I booted from the R&R CD... them selected the option to restore the system to original conditions... I was asked to put in all 6 CDs...

Now, Windows is not starting... it's still entering R&R...

Remove all partitions, then try again.

thanks!!!

It worked now. The lesson I learned was: "never combine a R&R CD that was created using an old version of the software with Back files created with a newer version.

This Samsung drive seems dead! lol, it's completely silent!

Yes, the readme file for R&R states the following:

Consideration 15
To restore original factory contents on computers that have the Rescue
and Recovery 1.0 program installed, reinstall the Rescue and Recovery
program after restoring the original factory contents. After reinstalling
the Rescue and Recovery 2.0 program perform a backup operation . It is a
good idea to dispose of old rescue media and to create new rescue media
after the Rescue and Recovery 2.0 program is reinstalled.
