After reformatting the T43, are there any chipset drivers you need to install?

Try this:
Press the blue "Access IBM" button.
"Learn"
"Download & Upgrade"
"Updating your operating system"

"Installing a new operating system"
"Windows(R) XP"

This takes you to the "Installing Windows XP" help page that describes exactly the drivers you need to install and where to find them. Just make sure you have a copy before you wipe your drive.
