New HDD will be covered by manufacturer's warrantee, but will IBM warrantee for other parts be expired?

i guess he is trying to say if he replaces the stock hd by another hd, will the warranty of other parts of the laptop voided?

I think we discussed this many times and the answer is no....HD is a customer replacable part.

Well, if you screw up other parts somehow by opening the laptop and replacing the HD, there is no certainty that IBM will fix things for you for free.
