HPA creation

#1 Post by coolice » Thu Aug 11, 2005 8:16 am

Hi !

I had deleted the HPA partition on my fresh T43p. It was not by mistake, but by purpose as I would like to hav emy notebook installed in a way i like.

But I stuck, as now, I would like to recreate the HPA partition, but I couldnt find how. I tried many options e.g. partition magic, but i couldnt find a solution, so I would like to ask your kind help in :

1., How can I create a HPA partition ?

2., How can I and Waht I have to modify (e.g. MBR) that Access IBM button push during boot would try to load the the OS on the HPA drive.

I know I need to create a new preloaded os on the HPA, but thats not a problem, just the 2 questions above.

MANY MANY thank you for your time and help in advance,

Moore

The Recovery Discs will recreate the HPA and restore the hard drive to the original factory state, with Windows on the C: drive. Any data on the hard drive will be lost. You should probably remove any existing partitions and convert drive to all free space before using the Recovery Set.

If you are looking to do something else, here is a link that may be useful. http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/PreDesktop_Area

Thanks a lot, but as I had written in my post, I wouldnt like to restore everything completely, not to mention, that I do not have recovery disk. Just by chance, do you have a sector backup of the HPA partition of yours which I could download ? So I could upload it, and than format it.

My target is to use the IBM Access button to start up that partition on that HPA. But NOT the restore and recovey, but a simple e.g dos.

Many thanks in advance,

Moore
