Downclocking the Graphics Card

#1 Post by Henry » Thu Aug 11, 2005 11:44 pm

I'm just wondering for those of you who have downclocked your graphics cards, if there is a better way to test it out than just wait and hope the screen doesn't freeze. Also, how low can you make it run? I got my MR 7500 down from 260/183 (core/mem) to 160/133, seemingly without any side effects while running only basic applications. For me it seems like there is a sharp cutoff line where below a certain value, it just freezes. I'm assuming downclocking will save power and reduce heat; does this make sense?

yes downclocking it would/should reduce heat (but most of the heat will come from the cpu and some from hd too ive noticed)

i havent tried clocking mine down too much, but i spose i could try to bring it down to 150 now that ive heard someone else have.

I don't think downclocking will cause any stability problems at all. Overclocking or undervolting may cause stability issues however.

Wow, seems like you tested it down to the exact minimum!
