Thinkpad 701
Hi Everyone,
Ive a couple of these, one with the original software, 0s2 3 thereon.
Id like to view it all on an external monitor and use a mouse so i believe I need some kind of docking station to connect to the 701. Can someone point me in the right direction viz a vie the type and possible location thereof?
look forward to your replies.

Re: Thinkpad 701
Hiya Ted,
Welcome to the Forums.
What you want is the Port Replicator for the 701 series:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 92984&rd=1
This is the easiest way to attach accessories to the 701. You can also use a Thinkpad Dock II, but the 701 requires an adapter in order to dock with the unit and these are difficult to find.
Regards,
James

beware the handling charge from microimpact.com and their auctions..
also, the multiport-II pictured in their auction does not appear to have the "hook" needed to keep the MP-II in place on the back of the 701C..

It was only an example of what Ted needs Papa-San. He's in Scotland so I doubt that he's going to buy anything from them.morrow wrote:beware the handling charge from microimpact.com and their auctions..
REALLY? I couldn't tell that from the small pictures, but a very good point.morrow wrote:also, the multiport-II pictured in their auction does not appear to have the "hook" needed to keep the MP-II in place on the back of the 701C..

Hi Bill,
Thanks everyone for your replies.
Bill... can you think of a price and shipping to me in the UK/ Ordinary airmail will do. As there are costs, Id rather spend them in this forum. Anyway now I know what to look for Ill see whats here in the Uk as well.
I do have a doc 1 here cant find it but it came with a 760. The port is in a different place.
Regards To everyone.
Ted

Actually, from I've read about you in the NGs over the years, you're most often to be found in the local!![]()
Lucky sod.

James
PS: Have you heard from Boyd, our favorite Glaswegian?
What is an NG?
The local is my home from home! Nothing wrong with that!
Who is Boyd?

There IS something wrong with it! The fact that we don't have anything truly comparable here in the "colonies"!n3il wrote:The local is my home from home! Nothing wrong with that!
Sorry, J. Boyd Beattie (jbb@the-laptop-shop.co.uk), laptop wonk from Glasgow. Haven't "seen" him in the NGs of late and he used to post often in uk.comp.sys.laptopsn3il wrote:Who is Boyd?
Of course, all this confusion MIGHT stem from me just having another senior moment and am confusing you with another Scottish Neil I know?
Naaahhhhhhhhhh!

James
Re: Where's Ted?
Erm James, I am afraid that I'm not the Neil you think I am !!!JHEM wrote:

BUT I would consider myself a "kinda laptop wonk" and I do indeed hail from just outside Glasgow.
Neil
PS I wouldn't worry about the senior moments - they go away the longer you spend in the local (well at least you can't remember what you have forgotten!!!)

Re: Where's Ted?
Well, that is truly strange! I occasionally correspond with a Neil McDermott from Glasgow on the NGs and I just automatically assumed you were he.n3il wrote:Erm James, I am afraid that I'm not the Neil you think I am !!!

And here I always thought you were all named Bruce up North!
