T20 Restore/Recovery CD available?

#1 Post by skygodtj » Sat Aug 13, 2005 10:27 am

I have a T20 I want to restore to factory specs(well, aside from the 900mhz cpu). I've searched the T20 pages for a Restore/Recovery CD and cant find anything OS related, other than the general 98, ME, 2000, XP supplement files... does anyone have, or know where I can find a restore CD for a 2647-46U T20?

Thanks, TJ

Teege,

You can use the recovery CD from your 600X library on the T20, they're basically the same set for W2K. Just be sure to run the IBM updater when the install completes.

If you want a set for XP, email me.

T20 Recovery CDs were available for Win95, Win98 and Win2k. The T20 models were discontinued before IBM started shipping XP. IBM used to sell replacement Recovery CDs for around $45 USD but would only provide the OS that the T20 originally shipped with. You can check eBay and maybe find one but it may not be a legal copy, FWIW.

My T20 came with both Win95 and Win98 Recovery Disks.

I bought my used T20 (2647-81U) that was off lease, and it came with recovery CD for Win2000 Pro. If you want a set, please email me.

T20 Restore/Recovery CD availability

I'm about to send my kids off to college with a couple of T22s I've picked up and would like to put W2k on them - both machines have Win2k COAs. Searching IBM I found this:

Effective March 31, 2004, IBM is no longer licensed to distribute new PCs with Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional. Microsoft Corporation has announced an end of the distribution agreement that allows IBM to deliver recovery CDs for this operating system to end users who have purchased a new PC with this operating system prior to March 31, 2004. IBM has acquired Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional product recovery CDs and will distribute them while product is available, until 07/31/2005.

Missed the cut-off by 2 weeks?

Rahula - any chance I could get a set? What's your email address?
