seems like mind is stuck with the FDA hold thing.. i guess they dont' work on weekends?
i also read they ship them overnight once the fda approves.. so i guess that means if they look at it monday and then it'll be here tuesday? sigh.
what exactly does the fda look at when they're just ibm boxes that are sealed and everything?

My T42P is also one of those 322. Eeek... Now UPS says "PROCESSING ERROR AT DESTINATION SITE;PKG HAS BEEN REROUTED TO DESTINATION" @ Anchorage Alaska. Anyone know what that means?

Yup, mine also says Murry Hill, NJ. I'm leaving on a week long west coast trip next wednesday and would like to have this laptop with me. Com'on UPS!!

I think its the customs that's holding it up. I would pay money to have it get to me faster. Oh wait, I already do pay money, in the form of taxes!

Here is an interesting non-scientific study on the three big carriers done by GeorgiaTech Bschool:
http://www.isye.gatech.edu/~jjb/wh/pack ... /2004.html
It seems UPS is the worst when it comes to international shipping. This came as a bit of suprised especially considering UPS prides itself with its multinational presence. This doesn't bold well for their logistics consulting division when they can't even get their own shipping done right. I'm sure going to remember this study the next time our logistics contract comes due.
I'm also going to keep my fingers crossed that I get my T42p from UPS before my trip.

27hrs! Wow - my laptop left Bill Wednesday - got to France on Friday - then hit that amazing brick wall that only the French could invent - the CUSTOMS combined with the WEEKEND.
So, from 03:00 hrs Friday morning until 06:00 Monday - nothing happened - I'm expecting it any moment now (10:00am Monday)

What does it say when it is released from customs? I can't stand having it so near yet so far. It's under an FDA hold in some warehouse next to where I am in California. I'm guessing it'll probably fly over to IBM on the east coast and fly back here again tomorrow.

Seriously, the FDA do sniff the boxes. Everytime I come back from China or Hong Kong even my luggage and shoes have to go through the FDA sniffer machine. Its like they ask me if I have walked on any farms or dairy facilities (yeah thats why I go to Asia, for the milk and cream not the technological gadgets), I say no, and they still make my shoes and luggage go through the sniffer.
What ratio of the thinkpads have to go through the FDA inspection facilities?

It doesn't look like this shipment made it out of Customs today. Tracking says:
Jun 28, 2004 4:35 P.M. LOUISVILLE, KY, US FOOD/DRUG ADMINISTRATION HOLD;BROKERAGE RELEASED. WAITING FOR CLR AGY
I fear it shall be Wednesday before we see our Thinkpads.

Peter, cross referencing:
http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... ng+clr+agy
They didn't receive the laptop until the second day after receiving the message "US FOOD/DRUG ADMINISTRATION HOLD;BROKERAGE RELEASED. WAITING FOR CLR AGY" I'm not getting my hopes up for tomorrow.

well, for me at least, it looks as though it's on the way to local hub here as of about 2 hours ago. if it isn't delivered today, but gets to the hub, i'll try my best to pick it up. i've done that before with packages from fedex..

Received my T42P as well. I love the 15" UXGA screen. It is extremely crisp with no dead pixels. *knock on wood*.
I was worried after reading all the posts about wireless problems but my intel2200b/g seems stable. no drop connection yet after two hours of use.
