R52 review at Laptop Logic (long & in-depth)

#1 Post by K. Eng » Tue Aug 16, 2005 10:18 am

The T series usually gets the most press, but Laptop Logic has done a very lengthy and detailed review of the R52.

One thing I found interesting was that Laptop Logic ran some 3DMark tests on the Intel GMA900 graphics. In 3DMark2001SE, the GMA900 got a bit over 4000, which is comparable to the score I got on my 1.3 GHz PM/Radeon 7500 combo.

This leads me to believe that the GMA900 is almost certainly more powerful than the Radeon 7000 in the X3x series, although that is a topic for that forum.
Homebuilt PC: AMD Athlon XP (Barton) @ 1.47 GHz; nForce2 Ultra; 1GB RAM; 80GB HDD @ 7200RPM; ATI Radeon 9600; Integrated everything else!

The lack of FlexView SXGA+ display is major cons :-/ OTOH a 184743G model should have better display than the one described in the review.

Not horribly suprising, given the age of the ATI 7xxx line these days.
