What kind of docking station do you have?

#1 Post by AndreasMeier » Wed Aug 17, 2005 2:17 pm

Hi there,

I'm interested in some kind of docking station and want to know what sort you are using for your T-series ?

If you want, you can post some advantages / disadvantages as well.

Thanks in advance,
Regards
Andreas

I use Port Relicator II, DVI into an external LCD, and a powered USB hub to give me enough ports -- still worked out far cheaper than the mini-dock.

The only disadvantage I've found (and I might be wrong) is that some applications like presentation director do not consider the computer actually "docked" when using the port replicator.

I miss none as answer. I personally don't see any reason to use a Docking Station or Port Replicator, since everything I need is Power and only sometimes.

The TrackPoint is so good, I even don't miss a mouse.

The MiniDock

Btw, you might want to edit the poll. It's DockII and MiniDock. There isn't a "minidock II"

I like being able to set my T42 in the MiniDock and an instant later be using...
An external 21.3" LCD flat panel monitor
A full size Microsoft natural keyboard
A Kensington Expert Mouse Pro trackball

It's good for whenever I have to do a LOT of typing or if I need the extra screen real estate.

@Inky,

cant edit my poll, only the message.
But youre right, I missed that somehow.

@dkrizic,

I personally like also the trackpoint, and even with a docking station, I like to work with it.
The docking station is for me mainly for getting easily connected to power and lan.
But I also thinking about having a dock with two flat screen monitors (TFTs) connected and a nice dualscreen setup :-)
In this case, I would like to have a fullsize keyboard and a mouse, too.

Regards
Andreas

Crappy TP + Dock II + PCI video card -> multiple DVI monitors.
