Does anyone have Sound working in DOS on 2645-45U

Does anyone have Sound working in DOS on 2645-45U

#1 Post by DJ UDX » Thu Aug 18, 2005 5:44 pm

I recently bought this laptop used and I am very happy to have it. I definitely like the picture quality on it (very warm like on viewsonic VA520 LCD).

I was thinking about using it to play some of my old DOS games such Prince Of Perisa, Raptor, Archon Ultra and so forth, but my DOS installation of Sound Drivers just doesn't work.

I get a message inadequate configuration to download firmware.

I was thinking if someone may have the original cwdinit.exe or so maybe I could try to boot with those files to see if they would work.

I downloaded just about all the drivers I could but it just won't detect the sound card. I tried modifying lines manually without the /A switch or with it and it still won't pick it up. I am thinking if it might be disabled in BIOS somehow but I think it was ok when I ran the IBM thinkpad utility.

Does anyone have any suggestions or maybe I should try to get a hold of original recovery disks somehow (would IBM even have that? - I wouldn't preffer if they send me the "disk" that could be actually for a different model or something like that, but if it's only way to go then yes I would do it)

Sound does work in windows.

carbon_unit thanks for the offer. I would preffer to maybe download just a couple of those driver files but I presume your Win98 is not installed.

Thank you so much for offering me those CD-s.

They are oem recovery cd's for the 600 I used to have.
All the drivers should be available in the driver matrix.
