I'm considering purchasing a t42 or t43. I've noticed that the laptop itself has a vga port, and the mini dock II (i think) has a dvi port on it. Is it possible to use these concurrently?
I've got two 18" lcd's on my desk, and in considering replacing my desktop with a laptop I'd really like to be able to use both of them. I don't need to use the laptop screen while I'm using the external monitors.
Anyone doing this?
If not using the default video, I suppose it would work with a PCI video card in the more advanced docking station... true?
Thanks much, and apologies in advance if it's been covered, search didn't dredge much up for me.

dual external monitors?
Well...I don't use two external monitors, but I do use the laptop LCD and an external LCD monitor. It works rather nicely, though I have to enable the external monitor everytime I power up at the office. Sometimes the mouse seems to skip from one monitor to the other without my intending it to do so...don't know if the mouse is flaky or if it is part of having the desktop extended to two monitors.
If there's an extra compatible monitor hanging around the office, and if I have the time (*that's* the killer) I'll see if I can hook up two monitors, if noone else has done so already.

The graphics controller in the T42/T43 will drive two displays: the internal display and one external display. To get more external displays, you have several options:
1. Put a PCI-based video card in a dock. NewEgg.com sells lots of them.
2. Use a PCMCIA video card. Villagetronic.com sells them. Marji.com and appian.com also made them.
3. Use a USB-based video card (Tritton TRI-UV100 at Newegg)
4. Use software that extends your computer's display to the screen of another computer (like an old laptop). See www.MaxiVista.com

Apathy is on the rise, but nobody seems to care.
