Hello.
I just completed an R&R of my G-41, using the proper IBM app. All is well and running. The purpose of this R&R was to instal a new 40 g HD in place of the original 30 g and it went fine. I did a backup on a 6 g HD via USB and Restored from that 6 g HD.
I am now trying to see if all is a true copy after Restoring the whole 30 g ( from the backup 6 g ) to the 40 g but I can not see the 30 g on an USB port. I would like to open them both side by side to see. The 30 g on USB will not even be seen in DOS using a ERD floppy and FDISK. Is this because of the HD all being in NTFS ? As it is, I can not even format the 30 g HD. I went to BIOS and made the USB the booting device and it will not see it, ie: will not boot from USB with the original HD on it. The cable is good, the port is live and I checked most all eventualities.
Any pointers here ? Here is another question ... as I Restored from the 30 g HD that was WPA accepted by MS, this new 40 g now has both WPA files copied to it. Will it see that the HD is changed and did I loose one vote of the ten or is it happy with the two WPA files ?
Have fun, I am. JP.
