Not a newly design fan, just the fan for the 18XX models.

Remember that those models have the GPU built into the Northbridge, so the Northbridge requires better cooling. These models have no external GPU. I find it strange that the 18XX heatsink has a piece for the (non-existent) external GPU!

In the 26XX T43s, the Northbridge receives no cooling.

Of course it would have been nice if they used the 18XX heatsink in all the T43s..! (To cover the Northbridge)

I own a 26XX, and while a swap might do the trick, I hate to do that when I just bought a new T43. I expected better from Thinkpad <sigh>.

W500 @ T9900, 7K750, 2GB ITM as TMP :twisted:
now W500, W700, X301, X120e,T43p
before T23, T40, T43p*2, T61p*3 (I hate Nvidia),
Total solution for absolutely ZERO oscillatory noise in t4x
