USB Combo Drive

#1 Post by Yotam » Mon Aug 22, 2005 1:43 am

Yeah... again...

My tablet should be delivered in few days, exactly when I arrive New York City (I might get it there). I want to buy there memory and a combo drive, and have some questions:
1. Do I need a powered-USB drive to operate it w/o the need of external power source? I saw only IBM's powered-USB combo.
2. Do you recommend any combo drive that does not requires external power and can boot? (If there is any...)
3. Does someone know any good store in NYC to look for it? I cant order it in advance.

Thanks!

I bought one of these: http://www.addonics.com/products/extern ... ket_ii.asp

I use it for travel only and it worked fine in my X40 and X41. Never tried booting from a CD with it. I sold the laptops and I now wait for my tablets so I can't test it for you until they arrive in two weeks... in two weeks... in two weeks... in two weeks (as I've been told 4 times now!).

Thank you brain. I'll try to look for one of these units there.

Hope you get your tablets soon. Hope I will get it by the end of this week as promised...

I'm still looking for any other drives if someone can recommend. Also, I'm looking for a store in NYC to buy it, as well as memory - if someone knows.
