T20 trackpoint mouse hangs up

#1 Post by frangelica » Mon Aug 22, 2005 6:02 pm

after coming out of hibernation or standby, the trackpoint mouse stops working! It works perfectly before it goes into those stages, but I have to reboot the computer to get the trackpoint functioning again. I know it's not all the mouse functions, as I can plug in the USB wireless mouse and it works in all circumstances.

I'm running Windows XP Home on a T20 2647-64U. It's got a PIII 650mhz processor, with 256mb memory and a 12 gig hard drive. I plan on upgrading the hard drive and the memory a LOT, but I want to make sure that everything functions before I go messing around majorly with it.

I've updated the BIOS, installed all the updated drivers and scoured the support section over at Lenovo, but have found nothing about this particular problem. Any ideas? :?:

T20 trackpoint mouse hangs up----SOLUTION

#2 Post by frangelica » Fri Sep 02, 2005 5:52 pm

just in case this ever happens to anyone else, I thought I'd update this with the solution.

Turns out that when I installed the drivers for the wireless USB mouse, the Kensington drivers also became the driver for the PS/2 mouse. Apparently, the trackpoint works off of these drivers as well, and when the computer came out of sleep, it started looking for a Kensington mouse instead of the Trackpoint.

I restored the PS/2 drivers to the IBM driver, and VOILA! The Trackpoint works all the time now.
