Thinkpad 2611-452 Charging Issues

Hello

I recently did a full discharge (left laptop on and let battery fully drain) on my IBM Thinkpad 2611-452. And the issue I am running into now is that the battery pack (which I just got a week ago brand new.) is not charging. I have ruled out problems with the battery and AC Adapter for those work fine in my friend's laptop. Does anyone know what I could do to fix this problem? Whenever I take out and put in the battery, the laptop turns on, but the battery led goes orange, flashes twice and then automatically turns off. Does anyone know what I can do to solve this issue so ti wont happen again?
