FYI: latest (Aug 11 release) video drivers from IBM (1rd633 or more fully Version 8.133.2-050525a-024243C-IBM) are working just fine on my T42p with Dell 24" (2405FPW) via DVI on minidock. At full 1920x1200.

Also FYI, while I agree that IBM/Lenovo VGA output stinks, a good cable helps. Dell VGA cable is about 5mm diameter. I used a heavy-duty cable from an old Digital CRT, about 10mm diam, and the image improved. Of course, DVI is perfect but I was testing older Dell 2001FP 20" 1600x1200 on the VGA, with 1920x1200 on the 24", for a 3520x1200 desktop ;)

I don't know that I'd recommend the 24". Yes, more dots and bigger, but pixels are noticeably larger (only 0.27mm vs 0.255mm dot pitch, but it's apparent), and it's so darned wide I have to swivel my head :D Cost-benefit analysis: AUD$800 vs AUD$1200; $400 buys a lot of beer.

Screen is very bright, but I had to adjust the gamma down to 0.7 to get the contrast right. No monitor.inf colour correction file provided with the 24".
