power management settings/hibernation fails..
T42 2378-FVU
when running from battery i have the following settings in the battery maximiser application.
system standby: 15min
turn off monitor: 5min
LCD brightness: level 3
turn off hard disks: 5min
CPU speed: adaptive (tried all the others too)
sytem hibernates: 30min
also have it set to standby when i close the lcd cover.
i can manually hibernate via Fn+F12 and have never had the first problem. however, if i close the lid (thus putting it into standby), let it sit for 30 minutes... the hibernation light starts blinking like its entering hibernation and just continues to blink indefinitely. if i open the lid the LCD comes on, but shows nothing (you can tell the LCD is on, the OS just isn't feeding it an image). i can press Fn+ PgUp and the think light comes on, i can adjust LCD brightness and it adjusts.. so the OS has to be running in the background for those to work.. but its like it gets stuck while preparing the hibernation file. i tried setting the redisafe option in the bios and still have the same results. can anyone try this on their thinkpad and see if they have the same results.
any ideas..
also i've always had a wireless network connection when initiating the standby if that matters.. although i would hope it would be able to deal with an active network connection.
