Problem with optical drive in T42

Hi

I just got a T42 (built 14 July 05) and, while testing it out with an audio CD last week, the optical drive (a DVD/CDRW) became unresponsive. The problem was that I could not eject the CD either thorugh WMP, My Computer, or the blue button on the drive itself. Has anyone else had a similar problem please? And is it likely to be an optical drive hardware issue, a different hardware issue, or a software issue.

Also, what solution options should I be offered, given that the warranty began only on 27 July 05. And I already submitted an online service request to Lenovo.

I have that problem occasionally, I have to stick a paper clip in the little hole to eject the CD, kind of a pain. Very rare so I have been living with it.

I had that problem when I first got my T42, but it seems that after I updated everything to the latest (except the BIOS and firmware), the problem went away. I haven't noticed it in several months.

ok, many thanks guys

. i finally got online today so that i could update all the software, but couldn't connect to the update site successfully for some reason (i suspect the hotspot provider). anyway, will try again asap. and yeah, seems like a minor issue.
