I recently acquired an IBM Thinkpad X22 with UltraBase X2 media slice (docking base) from eBay.
Anyway, according to this video, http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-44564, when I perform warm removal, I should see a message indicating that it is safe to remove.
However, I can't find the proper software or driver that supports such feature. Does anyone know what that utility is called? or where to download it?
Currently, if I just press the removal button, the hard drive will spin like crazy (you will see the hard drive activity LED indicator is on the whole time). Basically, I need to find the software that supports the warm docking and removal for UltraBase X2 on Thinkpad X22. The system is currently running Windows Xp Professional Sp2.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I don't get that on here, either.
When I hold the button, the light will start flashing. Then, when it stops flashing, it's safe to remove.
I DO get a dialog saying that "The 'HITACHI DVD-ROM GD-S200' device can now be safely removed from the system.", though...
I forget how XP notifies that you can safely remove a device - I think it's a bubble above the system tray. Look for that.
Of course, the sure way to do it is to go in and manually stop the device (it'll have the name of your optical drive...)
Hint: if you stop it accidentally, and you want to start it again, you don't have to undock and redock. Just flick the little tab to unlock the drive, and click the arm back in.
