Video goes blank when my hand is on palm rest

#1 Post by richk70 » Tue Aug 23, 2005 7:23 pm

Does anyone else have this problem? It started a couple of days ago.

Everything works fine, but as soon as I put my left hand on the palm rest, the video goes blank. The sine wave and battery indicators are lit up, but that's it. Num lock, caps lock and the other indicators won't toggle back on. All that seems to be possible is pressing the power key until it powers down.

Is anyone else seeing this?

Try reseating the Hard Disk if it's under the left palmrest on your machine.

Model????

If a T4X it's a known problem and needs to be sent in for motherboard replacement.

Doh! That would've been helpful. It's a T42 (2378-FVU).

Thanks! I googled it, and looked throughout this site but didn't see anything about it.

I'll try that first for sure. I hope it's as simple as that.

Thanks for the info again.

Are you putting your left hand on the left side or right side?
T42's HDDs are on the right side.

You could try taking the palmrest off and trying to pin the problem down, perhaps it's not related to the HDD.
