won't resume after standby
won't resume after standby
I have an iSeries 1161-41U and have recently installed a 60gig HD. It seems as though this problem has been since the new HD.
If it goes into standby mode, NOTHING will wake it up. I have to do a hard reboot?!
Does anyone know why this might be?
Thanks in advance.

I think maybe the problem might be that the laptop does not resume after it goes into "hibernate" ?!
If I push the "Fn" key and "F4" (which I assume is hibernate) the system will not resume.
However, if I leave it for 20 minutes (amount of time 'stand-by' is set for in power options) and come back, it will resume??!!!
Strange and annoying!
Please HELP!

Just guessing here, but maybe you need a particular piece of IBM software for the hot keys to work. I am not familiar with your model, but do you have IBM Configuration Utility, IBM Battery Maximizer Utility and Personalization Editor (probably not needed) installed?
Is your BIOS updated to the latest version? Are the menu choices set up in the BIOS properly?
Do you have any supplement files that might be required for Win XP installed? Do you have the Intel chipset drivers installed?
There are different levels of suspend. Maybe the one your laptop supports is not the one you are using with Win XP. Here is an article with more information. Hibernate and Suspend
