T42p Ethernet Port Loose?

#1 Post by andyli » Thu Aug 25, 2005 5:41 pm

I rarely use my T42p Ethernet Port, but I have recently started using it once again due to wireless diffculties in my house (I think I am getting some signals that are blocking).

Anyway, I noticed that after I insert the cable and it "clicks" into place, it connects properly (probably because I am pushing in on the cable). As long as the cable isn't pulled or moved at all, everything is fine.

However, there seems to be a space of less than 1cm that the cable can come back out (but it remains "clicked") where it will lose connection.

Does anyone else have this problem, or have any suggestions as to how I can fix it without sending my laptop in or bringing it in for repair.

Have you tried using another cable? Pay the extra bucks for a good one and give it a shot. I do a lot of networking and have found plenty of cables to be faulty.

I've used a few cables already from various manufacturers and had this problem (at home). I'll try it tomorrow on some cables from work to see if it also happens and report back.
