what are the CPU upgrade options for a T42?

Just interested in seeing if this m/b will take a dual-core yonah or even a single core one....

A year or two from now, it'll be nice if I can just pop in a faster cpu.

Nope, you can only upgrade to another dothan, they max at 2.13Ghz I believe.
